Alana's Pitching Instruction Philosophy
I believe that all softball pitchers deserve to have a chance to reach their fullest potential, becoming better pitchers, athletes and confident young women and men. When coaching pitching, I like to communicate in ways that not only make it easy for pitchers to understand but in ways that make it fun for them as well. My goal after every lesson is that all my pitchers leave with more knowledge and excitement then they came with. I also encourage my pitchers to try something new each session. I love working with ALL levels of pitchers; from brand new pitchers learning the fundamentals all the way through to the very experienced focusing on their spins and fine-tuning their movements.
Alana Westerhof
Alana Westerhof grew up in Delta and played softball for the South Delta Invaders and the Delta Heat. She has over 25 years of pitching experience and has a heart full of passion for the game. Alana still plays out of North Delta for the Sunfire Sr. Women's team and she doesn't see herself hanging up her cleats and mitt any time soon. Alana received a scholarship in 2011 to pitch for the University of British Columbia where she played for three years. After university Alana spent a season playing professionally in Europe for Enschede on the Tex Town Tigers in the Netherlands. While in Europe Alana had the opportunity to pitch to the Dutch National team and played for Sweden in the European Cup. In 2018, Alana was asked to go back to Europe and played in the European Cup with Denmark where she was awarded the Top Pitcher award from the tournament. Alana brings a wealth of pitching experience into her pitching lessons. Currently, Alana is starting to develop some depth in the Merritt Softball Association and excited for the upcoming softball season. Alana is very passionate about working with and helping out our youth; especially when it comes to enhancing their confidence and level of play.
